Uganda Mourns Moses Matovu

By Stephen Kapere: Uganda continues to mourn the passing of music legend Moses Matovu, co-founder of the iconic Afrigo Band, who was reported dead on Thursday 24/09/2026 following an alleged assault in the early hours of the morning.

Moses Matovu dedicated over 50 years to Uganda’s music industry, playing a significant role in shaping and revolutionizing Ugandan music. His contribution to the country and the music fraternity will remain deeply remembered.

He was laid to rest today, Friday, 25th September 2026, at his ancestral home in Kyanja, Kisasi.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, Afrigo Band, the music fraternity, and all Ugandans mourning this great loss.

May the soul of Moses Matovu rest in eternal peace.
