In a recent Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting at Mwiri Primary School, Meddy Mbetyo Junior, a diehard supporter of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party, addressed a gathering of over 100 parents, emphasizing the crucial role parents play in shaping the behavior and cultural values of the young generation.
Mbetyo stressed the need for parents to exhibit proper conduct as a means of preventing the infiltration of negative cultural influences on their children.
Mbetyo expressed worry about the growing trend of inappropriate attire among both parents and young people, emphasizing the need for a cultural shift. “Indecent dressing can have a lasting impact on the impressionable minds of our children. We must be mindful of the messages we are sending,” he stated.
“Manners start from home, and parents should lead by example,” he urged. This sentiment was echoed by concerned parent Janet Namukose, who lamented the potential consequences of failing to instill positive values at home.
Namukose further elaborated on the importance of addressing this issue at the parental level. “As parents, we need to be conscious of how our dressing choices influence our children. It’s not just about what we say; it’s about what we do,” she emphasized.
The call for responsible conduct and cultural awareness at home has ignited discussions among parents, with many acknowledging the need for collective action, prompting parents to reflect on their choices and the potential consequences for the younger generation.
